Detailed Solution

Both Assertion and Reason are true, but Reason is not the correct explanation of the Assertion.
Assertion: However, sodium's color is silvery-white, the softest metalso easily cut with even a knife, and highly reactive to water and moisture present in the air. If sodium comes into contact with air, it oxidizes rapidly and releases hot hydrogen gas with flames. Hence it can't be used in making electrical wires.
Reason: Sodium (Na)  is a good conductor of electricity as it allows electricity to pass through it. Since the valence band and conduction band of sodium overlap, there is no band gap between them, making solid sodium good conductors of electricity. In the closed orbital, which is capable of conducting electricity, electrons are constantly available.
