Detailed Solution

The assertion is false, but reason is true.
Assertion: Iron sulphate (FeSO4) solution changes colour when zinc (Zn) is added. A grey precipitate of iron and a colourless zinc sulfate solution (ZnSO4) are created because zinc is more reactive than iron and displaces iron from its iron sulphate solution. As a result, iron metal gets deposited, and the green colour of the solution fades as the reaction is forwarded. Hence the assertion is false, whereas the given reason is true. The reaction is given as:-
Zn+FeSO4ZnSO4+Fe . so assertion is false because when zinc added to iron sulphate there is a colour change.
Reason: Iron is less reactive than zinc. As a result, when zinc is added to an iron sulphate solution, the colour of the iron sulphate solution changes, and a grey precipitate of iron and a colourless zinc sulphate solution are created.
