Detailed Solution

Both (A) and (R) are true and (R) is the correct explanation of (A).
In response to various atrocities committed, Gandhiji decided to withdraw from the Non-Cooperation Movement, especially after the Curi Chaura incident in 1922, when people clashed with police and set fire to a police station. The incident resulted in the deaths of three civilians and 22 police officers. Mahatma Gandhi suspended the unilateral movement at the national level on February 12, 1922, as a result of this incident. Nineteen were hanged to death, and others were displaced. Bhagwan Ahir was leading a military pension that was severely beaten by British police. This led to the Chauri Chaura Section.
