Karl Marx argued that industrial society was capitalist. According to him, capitalists owned the capital invested in factories, and workers produced the profit for capitalists. Karl Marx believed that the only way for workers to free themselves from capitalist exploitation was to overthrow private property and build a society where all property was socially controlled - a communist society. He believed that in the future communist society would be a natural society. He developed his ideas in collaboration with the German thinker Friedrich Engels.
