Detailed Solution

The period from 1793 to 1794 is referred to as the Reign of Terror. It was a period of a series of massacres and public executions. It was characterised by revolutionary spirit, anti-nobility sentiments, and accusations made by the Jacobins led by Maximilien Robespierre and the Committee of Public Safety.
The ex-nobles and clergy, members of rival political parties, and even members of his party who disagreed with his methods were all seized, imprisoned, and then convicted by a revolutionary tribunal. They were executed by guillotine if the court found them guilty.  The members of the Jacobin club belonged to the less prosperous society.
