At a certain time a tree 6m high casts a shadow of length 8 meters. At the same time a pole casts a shadow of length 20 meters. Then the height of the pole is 15m.
It is given that, a tree of

m height casts a shadow of

8

m.
We have to find the height of the pole if its length is

20

m.
Assume that height of the pole is

x

meters,

6 : 8 : : x : 20

a b = c d

Substitute the known values within the formula,

68 = x 20

x = 6 × 20 8

By solving the above equation,

x = 3 × 5

x = 15

m
The height of the pole is

15

m.
