Beginning in 1911, Delhi became the centre and capital city of Colonial India. On the very different occasion of the same Indian National Congress session, where Jana Gana Mana has become the anthem of the Indian freedom struggle, however, during the September 1920 INC session, Gandhiji convinced other leaders of the need to start a non-cooperation movement in support of Khilafat, through which a harmony or cordial movement of the Hindu-Muslim community would be possible for the freedom struggle.
