Detailed Solution

The pupa stage in the life cycle of a silk moth is killed to get the silk.
Animal fibres are fibres that have been obtained by the use of an animal. Silk is an animal fibre obtained from the cocoons of silkworm. When a female silk moth lays egg, a tiny caterpillar originates from it. It then weaves a net to hold itself and later secretes a fibre made of protein which hardens on exposure to air. This is the silk fibre covering on a cocoon. At this stage the larva is called pupa. Therefore, the stage in the life cycle of a silk moth it is killed to get the silk is pupa.
