The Mughal rule in India, which dominated the mediaeval period, began to weaken during the 18th century. The last powerful ruler who controlled the vast Mughal empire was  Aurangzeb. Aurangzeb died in the year 1707. The death of Aurangzeb was a big blow to the mighty Mughal empire. He was succeeded by weak rulers who could not manage such a big empire effectively. A political crisis in the Mughal courts. Many nobles parted ways. The Nobles and zamindars began to establish their regional kingdom carved out of the Mughal empire. Such kingdoms were Bengal, Hyderabad, Awadh, Mysore, etc. Furthermore, the arrival of Britishers came as a final blow to the Mughal empire.
