Baba Ramchandra was related to the Awadh peasant movement.
The taluqdars and landlords of Awadh exploited the local peasants. These talukdars and landlords charged an exorbitant tax and other cesses from the peasants and locals. The peasants were also treated as begars because they were not paying the work to the peasants and labourers. Thus the landlords used to exploit the people of Awadh by charging extra revenue, hoarding grains and crops, and selling them at high rates. This unfairness led to protests, and Baba Ramchandra started the Awadh peasant movement demanding a reduction of revenue and abolition of the begar.
