Bachchu Manjhi was a Cycle Rickshaw Puller. From a village in Bihar, Bachchu Manjhi pulled a cycle rickshaw. He was a mason by trade. His family resides in the village. They are not landowners. There is not much stonework in the village. For his family, the revenue obtained was insufficient. He stays in a rental room with his roommates. He makes between Rs. 200 and Rs. 300 each day, of which he spends between Rs. 100 and Rs. 150 on rent and food. He saves the remainder for his family. He travels to his village two or three times a year to see his family. Even though his family relies on the money he makes and sends to them to survive, his wife also makes money from occasional agricultural work.
