Ball bearings work on the principle of rolling friction.
When a spherical object rolls on a surface, the resistance it encounters is called rolling friction. Ball bearings used between the wheel and axle of a car reduce friction to some extent. Most machines with moving parts use ball bearings to reduce friction. However, it is not possible to reduce friction to zero, as no surface is absolutely smooth.
