Detailed Solution

Bankim Chandra Chatterjee wrote Vande Mataram. He was an Indian author whose works helped establish a school of fiction modelled after those in Europe in India. From 1858 until his retirement in 1891, he served the Indian public service as a deputy magistrate. He combined nationalism and Hinduism, and the song "Vande Mataram" ("Hail to thee, Mother") from his book Nandamah served as an example of his philosophy. This song later served as the mantra (or "hymn") and anthem of Hindu India during its battle for independence.
