Because of the pressure made by Industrialists and Urban dwellers, the British government scrapped the corn law. The import of corn was much cheaper than growing corn in Britain. But due to the Corn laws, the cheaper imports relieved farmers in Britain. But under pressure from the industrialists and urban dwellers, the British government had to scrap the corn laws. They have allowed imports from other countries where corn was grown in favourable climatic conditions, which takes less price to produce them. So now corn was imported at cheaper rates, due to which many farmers cultivating corn became unemployed.
