Detailed Solution

Before playing the orchestra in a musical concert, a sitarist tries to adjust the tension and pluck the string suitably. By doing so, the sitarist is correcting the frequency.
The frequency of the string vibrations depends on the tension. The tension of a string is directly proportional to the square of the frequency. It means that for higher tension, the frequency will also be higher. So if we double the tension, then the frequency is quadrupled. Hence, by adjusting the strings of the guitar, the tension in the string is changed, which changes the frequency of sound from the guitar.
