Besides Hindi, there are 21 other languages recognised by the Indian Constitution. The Indian Constitution has recognised 22 languages as Scheduled Languages under the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. Hindi is the official language of India, mentioned under Article 343(1) of the Constitution. The other 21 languages recognised as Scheduled Languages are- Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, Dogri, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Maithili, Nepali, Oriya, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Santhali, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu.
