Detailed Solution

Between 1810-1870, the population of London multiplied fourfold.
As a result of industrialisation, modern urbanisation took on a new form. However, most Western nations were still predominantly rural even in the 1850s, many decades after the start of the industrial revolution. The textile mills established in the late eighteenth century attracted a considerable number of immigrants from the early industrial centres of Britain, such as Leeds and Manchester. In England and Wales in 1750, one in every nine individuals resided in London. It was a huge city with roughly 675,000 people living in it. London grew continuously throughout the nineteenth century. Between 1810 and 1880, its population increased from 1 million to nearly 4 million, a fourfold increase.
