Detailed Solution

Bhabha founded an atomic research facility in 1954 at Trombay, which was eventually given the new name Bhabha Atomic Research Centre.
The main Chairman of the Commission was chosen as Dr Homi Bhabha. The commission's objectives were to increase grain yields and lengthen their shelf lives while generating electricity from nuclear energy. Before the Second World War, Bhabha returned to India and enrolled at the Indian Institute of Science, where he founded the Cosmic Ray Research Institute. He founded the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in 1945, which served as the initial testing ground for India's atomic programme.
