Detailed Solution

Bhakra Nangal's multipurpose project has been built on the Satluj river.
The Bhakra Nangal project consists of two dams, Bhakra and Nangal. It was jointly ventured by three states, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana, to harness the benefits of the Satluj river. Its reservoir, the "Gobind Sagar" reservoir, is the third largest reservoir in India, behind the Indira Sagar dam in Madhya Pradesh and the Nagarjunasagar Dam, both of which have capacities of 12.22 billion cubic metres. Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first prime minister, referred to the dam as the "New Temple of Resurgent India," drawing visitors from across the country.
