Detailed Solution

Bhakti was derived from the Sanskrit term Bhag.
It means ‘to divide or share.’ It suggests an intimate, two-way relationship between the deity and devotee. Anybody, whether rich or poor, belonging to any caste, be it a man or woman, could follow the path of Bhakti. Bhakti was directed toward Bhagwat. The beginning of Bhakti was also when worshipping deities, especially in Hinduism, gained importance. The idea became very popular at that time as it was mentioned in the Bhagavad Gita, a sacred book of Hindus included in the Mahabharata.
