‘Bibliotheque Bleue’ is a French term. Once printing presses became commonplace and widespread in Europe, the reading revolution exploded. A great number of books may now be printed in enormous quantities and supplied to the general public at low prices. During this period of "Reading Mania'' in Europe, a variety of printed products appeared, not simply books. For the general public, less formal and technical literature were created for recreational reasons. The 'Bibliotheque Bleue' were low-cost tiny books made on low-quality paper and bound in inexpensive blue overs in France. Then there were the romances, which were four to six pages long, and the longer histories, which were historical fiction.
