Detailed Solution

concept - The bleaching agent is the substance used to remove the colour from fabric or fibre or stains. The basic function of a bleaching agent is to decolourize other substances.
It is an oxidation process.
The chemical name of the bleaching powder is Calcium oxychloride and the chemical formula of the bleaching powder is CaOCl2.
When chlorine reacts with water, oxygen is produced. The resulting oxygen combines with the coloured substances present in organic matter and oxidises them into colourless substances.
Cl + H2β†’ HCl + HClO HClO β†’HCl+[O]
Colouring substance + [O] β†’ Colourless substance
HCl β†’ Hydrochloric acid
HClO β†’ Hypochlorous acid
So, Calcium oxychloride is the salt of hypochlorous acid HOCl.
Cl2O is an anhydride of HOCl. Therefore, Cl2O+H2O→2HOCl
Hence, the correct answer is 1.
