Both Houses of Parliament approved the Consumer Protection Bill, 1986, reserving the rights of consumers, and on December 24, 1986, the President gave his consent. It entered into force as THE CONSUMER PROTECTION ACT, 1986, in the Statutes Book (68 of 1986).
