Detailed Solution

BR Ambedkar wanted separate electorates at the second round table conference, which led to a rift between him and Gandhiji. The struggles of the Dalits were quite different from those of the mainstream population. They had different demands and demanded other things from the British compared to the Congress. They were led by famous Dalit activists and lawyer Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar. At the Second Round Table conference, his views differed from Gandhiji’s. He demanded separate electorates for the people of lower castes. But Gandhiji opposed this because if separate electorates were introduced for the Dalits, it would hamper integration within the nation. He began a fast unto death for his demand.
