Detailed Solution

The Brahmaputra is a Himalayan river.
The Brahmaputra river lies very close to the sources of the Indus and the Satluj, rising from the east of Mansarovar lake in Tibet. It flows parallel to the Himalayas in an eastward direction, and the majority of its courses lie outside India. After it reaches Namcha Barwa, it changes its direction and takes a U-turn entering India in Arunachal Pradesh with the help of a gorge. The other famous names of the river are Tsangpo in Tibet and Jamuna in Bangladesh. The channel of the river also shifts frequently. Contrasting to the other North Indian rivers, the Brahmaputra is tagged by huge deposits of silt on its bed which causes the riverbed to rise.
