Brahmo Sabha was later known as Brahmo Samaj.
In Calcutta, Raja Rammohun Roy established the Brahmo Sabha, a reform organisation that subsequently became the Brahmo Samaj. The 1830-founded Brahmo Samaj outlawed all forms of idolatry and sacrifice, adhered to the Upanishads, and barred its members from criticising other religions. It drew upon the religious ideals, particularly those of Hinduism and Christianity, examining their positive and negative aspects.
