As a result, he made several crucial suggestions that altered India's forest practices. The need to educate people about conservation science, the implementation of new forest legislation, and the restriction of animal grazing in the forest. In 1864, Brandis established the Indian Forest Service and helped draft the Indian Forest Act of 1865.
