Detailed Solution

British historians have divided Indian history into ancient, mediaeval, and modern. The traditional periodisation of Indian history-ancient, mediaeval and modern; made it feasible to maintain the periodisation system in colonial stories about India's past. Since the early nineteenth century, colonial historiography has divided pre-British Indian history into periods labelled according to religious identity: Hindu and Muslim. As a result, the entire period preceding circa AD 1200 was dubbed the "Hindu Period" of Indian history. The 'Muslim Period' of Indian history began with the establishment of the Delhi Sultanate in 1206 and lasted until the first half of the eighteenth century.
