Detailed Solution

British industries failed to regain their former power in the Indian market after the First World War.
During the war years, Indian industries gradually consolidated their position by shifting foreign producers and capturing the domestic market. The nationalist movement had secured a place under Mahatma Gandhi, and his request to use Swadeshi products was strongly supported. Countries such as Japan, the US, and Germany became more modern, and Britain could not compete with them. For these reasons, British industries failed to recapture their power. And that is why it paved the way for Indian independence.
