Detailed Solution

Buffer Stock and Public Distribution Systems are India's food security components.
1)      Buffer Stock: Buffer stock is the stock of food grains like wheat and rice procured by the government through the Food Corporation of India. FCI purchases surplus food grains from the farmers. Farmers get a pre-announced price for their crops, known as the Minimum support price. It is declared by the government every year before the sowing season to incentivise farmers to raise wheat and rice production.
2)      Public distribution system: Public distribution system is an Indian food security system established under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public distribution. It evolved as a system to give food grains at affordable prices. The central and state governments are responsible for providing food grains to the identified beneficiaries. Food grains are given to farmers at a Minimum support price. Importance of PDS: ensures food and nutritional security, maintains buffer stock of food grains, helps in redistribution of grains, and increases food production due to initiation of minimum support price.
