Gandhi and the Indian national congress boycotted the first round table conference, so, in the absence of the premier political party, the first round table conference had to be adjourned by 2 January 1931 Gandhi-Irwin had demanded that. Gandhiji demands that his condition be accepted, so Irwin makes a return and demands that if Gandhiji attends the second round table conference, then Irwin will accept Gandhi’s demand. This was known as the Gandhi-Irwin pact, and then Gandhi took part in the second round table conference.
