Detailed Solution

By inserting a soft iron core into a solenoid, the strength of the magnetic field increases.
A strong magnetic field which is produced inside the solenoid can be used to magnetize a piece of a magnetic material like soft iron. When a magnetic material like soft iron is placed inside the coil of the current-carrying solenoid, it gets magnetized due to the solenoid's magnetic field. The soft iron now becomes a magnet that is called an electromagnet. Thus, by inserting a soft iron core into a solenoid, the strength of the magnetic field increases.
