By mistake, a voltmeter is placed in series and an ammeter in parallel with a resistance in a circuit as shown below
 

Consider the following statements regarding above circuit:

I) The main current in the circuit will be very low and almost all current will flow through the ammeter

II) If the devices are ideal, a large current will flow through ammeter and it will get damaged.
