By the 1980s, several political organisations were formed demanding Independent Tamil Eelam (State).
The demand for a separate Tamil state named Independent Tamil Eelam in Sri Lanka emerged because after the independence of Sri Lanka Sinhalese community had the governmental powers. Due to this, every action taken by the Sinhalese community only satisfied the interest of the Sinhalas, and the interests of the Tamil community had been ignored. Due to this, a demand for a separate Tamil state was created to entertain the welfare of the Tamil community.
