Detailed Solution

By the Calico Act, the British Government banned the use of printed cotton textiles in England.
The Calico Act prohibited the majority of cotton textiles from being imported into England (1700, 1721), and they were then restricted from being sold. It was a sort of economic protectionism, mostly in retaliation to India (especially Bengal), which controlled the global cotton textile markets at the time. The Calico Act was named that way because it outlawed cotton fabrics, often known as calico in Europe.
