$C{a}^{2+}andM{g}^{2+}$ ions are responsible for making water hard

Hard water : It contains  $C{a}^{2+}$ and $M{g}^{2+}$  ions which are responsible for making water hard. Scum is a precipitate of Calcium and Magnesium salt of organic fatty acids.
