Can a hernia be cured?

Yes, a hernia can often be effectively treated and essentially “cured”, especially with surgery.

•  Many hernias are repaired surgically either open repair or minimally invasive (laparoscopic) techniques. Clinical guidelines support surgery in symptomatic patients or when risk of complications is high.
• After successful repair, recurrence rates are low when done well.
• Non-surgical management (watch & wait) may be chosen in some asymptomatic cases, but the hernia does not resolve on its own. It tends to persist or grow.

So yes, with proper medical care the hernia can be resolved; but it does not self-heal permanently without intervention.
