Can I get CSE in any IIT with 1000 rank?

With a 1000 rank in JEE Advanced, securing Computer Science Engineering (CSE) in the older IITs like IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Madras is highly unlikely. These IITs have very high demand for CSE, and the cut-off ranks for CSE are generally much lower.

However, you still have a chance of getting CSE in some of the newer IITs or IITs with a slightly lower cut-off, depending on factors such as:

1. IIT Tier:
   • Older IITs (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras) typically have cut-offs in the top 100-300 ranks for CSE. Your 1000 rank will most likely not fetch you CSE in these institutes.
   • Newer IITs (IIT Patna, IIT Ropar, IIT Bhubaneswar, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Jodhpur) may have cut-offs that could align better with a 1000 rank, making CSE more accessible here.
2. Category: If you belong to a reserved category (SC/ST/OBC/EWS), your chances improve significantly. Reserved category candidates typically get admission in CSE with higher ranks compared to the general category.
3. Counseling Rounds: During later rounds of counseling, seats in CSE might become available in some IITs, though this is often a long shot. If you're flexible with location or branch, you may secure a seat in CSE at a newer IIT.
