Intercalated discs are the characteristic feature of cardiac muscles. They have gap junctions which allow all the muscle cells to contract as one unit (functional syncytium). Actin and myosin are present in all the three types of muscles. Striations and sarcomeres are present in both skeletal muscle and cardiac muscle.
