Casparian strips interrupt

Suberin-based Casparian strips can be found on the radial and tangential walls of endodermal cells. They are water-resistant.
Water travels through cell walls and intercellular gaps in an apoplast route. Water cannot pass through the endodermis layer because its cell walls have Casparian strips. Thus, casparian strips interrupt the apoplastic pathway.
