Cast iron and high-carbon steel are two ferrous metals. Cast iron is brittle in nature if it is thin. It can be cast into mould and has strong compression strength, and good electrical and thermal conductivity but has poor resistance to corrosion. On the other hand, high carbon steel (tool steel) is hard but brittle. It is less malleable than mild steel, has a good electrical and thermal conductivity.
