Detailed Solution

The caste system is defined on the basis of birth. A caste system is a class structure that is determined by the birth of a person in a particular caste. So a child born into a Shudra family is a Shudra and must serve his caste's duties, whereas a child born into a Brahman family is a Brahaman. The highest castes are Brahman and Kshatriya, while the lowest is Shudra. High castes have more access to societal resources, more say, and more respect in society. Lower castes tend to face discrimination and unequal justice. This caste system was originally based on the occupation followed by a person, not on their birth origin. But in later phases, corruption in society and the almost hereditary following of occupations by religions led to the determination of caste on the basis of birth.
