Detailed Solution

Certain minerals may occur as alluvial deposits in the sands of valley floors and the base of hills, and these deposits are called Placer deposits. An accumulation of valuable minerals called a placer deposit is created by gravity separation from a particular parent rock during sedimentary processes. Placer materials must be thick as well as resistant to weathering processes. Mineral particles must have a specific gravity greater than 2.58 to accumulate in placers. Minerals found in placer deposits typically aren't eroded by water. The most significant minerals in placer deposits are gold, silver, tin, and platinum.
