IUPAC name of Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) is hexadecyl(trimethyl)ammonium bromide. Chemical formula of Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide is C₁₉H₄₂BrN.
Cetrimonium cation acts as an antiseptic agent against bacteria and fungi.
Cetyltrimethylammonium bromide is a quaternary ammonium surfactant. It is a popular cationic detergent.
