Given that, the chalk contains 3g of carbon which is 12% of the chalk’s weight.
So, 12% of chalk’s weight is 3g.
Let the total weight of chalk be x.
Therefore,

Weight of carbon present in chalk = 12100 × total weight of carbon ⇒ 3 = 12100 × x ⇒ x = 100 × 3 12 ⇒ x = 25 g
