Chalukya rulers centred Raichur Doab as the main ground for the development of the Empire. The Raichur was a fertile ground between the Krishna and the Tungabhadra rivers. They had made Aihole the capital city and developed it into an important trading centre. This city was also famous for various religious activities because of its many temples. The Pallavas and Chalukya had a rivalry, which led to frequent Wars between them. This destroyed many of the cities, especially the capital cities, because they were the most prosperous towns in the region.
