Detailed Solution

The Chalukyas were centred in the Raichur Doab region, a lush land between the rivers Krishna and Tungabhadra in southern India. They were the most powerful monarchs in South India and were contemporaneous with rulers such as Harshavardhana. Pulakesin II's rule marked the heights of the Chalukya dynasty. The Kadambas, Gangas of Mysore, Mauravas of North Konkan, Latas of Gujarat, Malavas, and Gurjars were all conquered by Pulakesin II. Additionally, he was successful in forcing the kings of the Chola, Chera, and Pandya to submit. Along with Mahendravarman of the Pallavas, he had also defeated king Harsha of Kannauj.
