Champaran Satyagraha took place in 1916.
In South Africa, Mahatma Gandhi used a novel strategy of mass agitation called satyagraha to defeat the racist government. It implied that using physical force to oppose the oppressor was unnecessary if the cause was just and the fight was against injustice. Mahatma Gandhi organised satyagraha campaigns in numerous locations after arriving in India.For example, hee went to Champaran in Bihar in 1916 to motivate the locals to fight against the harsh plantation system.
