Change direct speech into indirect speech

The children said, "We want to go out and play."

 

Direct speech is those speeches that are used to quote the exact words spoken. Indirect speech is those speeches that tell you what someone said but does not use the person's actual words. Option A is correct. Pronouns usually change from first or second person to the third person except when the speaker reports his own words. Therefore the pronoun "we" is changed to "they". Reporting verb in direct speech is in simple present tense while converting to indirect speech should be simple past tense.
