Detailed Solution

GnRH secretion occurs in a pulsatile manner. In adult men, GnRH pulses occur approximately every two hours throughout adult life. In women, GnRH pulse frequency gradually increasing during the follicular phase till mid-cycle and slows down after ovulation due to the feedback effect of estradiol and progesterone. Increasing frequencies result in preferential secretion of LH, whereas decreasing frequencies result in greater FSH release.
